I think because times were either busy or happy for me, so suddenly it has been 5 months post surgery already.

The staffs at twincity were so happy and enthu for me!
Asked me to take pictures with them before and after, so here u go.
My favourite nurse, Yati who always encourage me and play with me when im nervous.

My orthodontist, Dr Poon Kee Hoon, who always comfort me like a kid.

My pretty orthodontist intern at twincity, Peiqi, who helped me with the cleaning and polishing.

Awkward right? They keep asking me to smile widely hahahaha.

How? Weird?

I can't help but to keep licking my teeth now hahaha, anyone did the same thing too after bedanding?

The process was quite uncomfortable actually.
The only pain part is when they remove the ring at back molar, it felt like plucking teeth.

I had to keep my mouth open for very long time which is like so tired for me to do so especially after the surgery.

Collecting my retainer next week.

SO HAPPY.

so, maybe just the dinner treat, the room cost and yummy cakes will make me happy!

So was Doctor Peck.
He was on MC this week so my next review is in Jan next year.
Shall start to chew slowly chew slowly with the whole set of teeth so I wouldn't be hearing his nagging next time.

Doctor upgraded the antibiotics she gave me last time.
And I missed the chance to eat korean food with my girls.
So long never meet tricia they all.
And I want to hear story from Geral's audition!
Miss them so much =(
I even planned to eat my ginseng chicken soup already!

Nvm, going togi with mandy and ahwei next Monday.

Couldn't find blueberry ones and cannot eat chocolate cos got sore throat.
So i got this caramel pudding.

Theresa brought me to have a very yummy crabbie dinner with xeno at Melben Seafood.
Long queue but worth it.
Super duper nice.

I couldn't bite the stir fried xiao kai lan. Stem too hard.
Attacked the soup and ts helped me took out the meat from the crab's pincer.
I don't really know how to eat crab, pincer is the only place I can find meat anyway.
And awesome! I don't have to ask people to cut beehoon for me anymore.
I could bite them off like a piece of cake!
Heh.

Can't wait for buffet!

It was short but fruitful trip.

Hope its not as bad as how it sounds like.

Day 50: New LED & Xmas love in making.

After ending my HD workshop, I got so tempted to get a full HD tv.
But I think my house is still not ready for HD media yet.
So I got a Samsung 32" HDready LED at $649 only!
Funny story:
The salesperson trying to switch the set on and test on the spot for me.
Me: "Scully later they use snsd's video ar"
Shan: "No lah they were playing Disney animation just now"
*dang*
SNSD's genie mv came out.
Those gadgetguys sure love the girls. Soshi, 4minute, 2ne1 all over the monitors inside the hall.

Its nice to have friends who are willing to carry and install your newly bought LED tv from
SITEX.

Day 36: Working life is so tiring..

I'm having a hard time adapting to my 12hours shift work.
Although its only 2 days and I'll get the next 2 days off, but its still very tired from all the concentration I had to give.

I think boss wants me to start with something I familiar instead of the new workflow.
So he assigned a movie with After Effects editings for me over these 2 days.
I like but its very taxing.
And my stupid ego made me worked until 1am just to complete the whole thing.
Cabbed home and knocked off on bed without washing my hair.
And I think I need new specs.
My vision are getting blurry...

So I brought my own lunch, either soup or porridge and Ensure for dinner.
In between the day when I feeling lightheaded or hungry, I will go for milo or horlicks.

Ming's birthday bash with happy people in happy club tonight.
Where's my happy dancefloor? =(

Day 35: Sticky Chewy Chocolate

Day 33: 1.5cm!

So happy.

So Doctor Peck said I can start practising chewing on soft pasta.
But not now, still encountering pain from the tightening session.

Jin accompanied me to my review today because she wanted to pay a visit to her ex-colleagues over at eye centre and to get toiletries at chinatown.

Saw handsome Dr Seah, who gave me a nose consultation at the lift lobby because we bumped into him before the review.
He's happy with the result but he just suggesting more.
Yes he's a perfectionist I guess so he sort of encouraged me to do my nose too.
But I told him I don't dare. He LOL-ed -.-;
"You already did that and now you are afraid of this?!"
Seriously~
My tolerance level for pain is really low so until now I still have no idea why I got the courage to for the jaw surgery!

You might wondering why nose when you are in dental?
In cases when upper jaw surgery is needed (like mine is double jaw so they actually cut my upper too) the bone that is connected to our nose will be affected as well.
So sometimes they will restructure the nose during or after the correction operation.
Some even got their sinus cured!
I was advised to do 6 months after but I rejected because my main concern was only my bite.

Anyway I forgot to take photo with him again! Damn.

Met pretty ling for lunch.

And she damn cute lor.

day 32: Bye bro.. and hi bands.

Took leave today supposed to send brother in for army but I have to go to see my braces dentist before her maternity leave.

So we parted at Pasir Ris Mrt, mum still went to the ceremony tho.

Dr Poon gave me painkillers because I'm in major pain today.
Not only pain from the jaw, but the whole set of teeth.
Despite my limitation of opening, Dr Poon has to change wires, relocate bracket and implement bands.
Most importantly, to remove those antenna look-a-likes surgery hooks which have been eating into my lips.

Check out my hot pink Ibuprofen.

And I was really very very very scared throughout the whole tightening session.
Dr Poon tried very hard to adjust things on my teeth and she used alot of force to push the wires in.
Things were easier when I open my mouth really big..
I cannot imagine what will happen if she overused and pushed my jaw instead.
You don't know how relieved I was when its finally done!

I chose slateblue colored bands, no more hooks or broken wires.

Going NDC tml for review.
Hope tml my mouth can miraclely reach more than 1cm opening.

I'm so missing him already.

Day 31: Happy 1st Month Post Surgery

And back to work. Cruel reality.

My room! PM stands for Programme Master.
But I usually just use the term Video Editor for those who are not in media line.
Shared with another PM3 editor named Teresa, who I don't get to see often cause we are opposite shifts.

New system is confusing me!
And i also forget quite alot of the old workflow.
I even forgotten my own log in password!
Information overloaded today. So tiring..
Need to adapt back to my 12hours shift asap.
I'm seriously missing waking up in the afternoon and naps..
And I think its gonna be lonely lunch hour for me for quite some time before I can join them to eat outside food =(

Colleagues recognised me by my BIG nerdy specs.
And its quite fun to see people's reaction when I walked pass them.
My chingu Pearlin IS SO CUTE.

I woke up with sharp pain from both wound, but it hurts more on the right.
So sad that I couldn't eat wanton mee, I had ensure milk instead today.
Too pain to put any food into my mouth.

I sorted out my invoices, GE Medishield disapproved my claims filed by SGH because it's not under Accidental Dental Treatment.
Now all I have to do is to wait for the finalised hospital bill then I can claim from my GE Totalshield.
Let's pray for the good news.

And Jin dropped by after her last paper!

P.S She's a vegetarian.

Wanted to go for a relaxing night ride but it was complicated so we call it off.
Its ok, more chances to meet my girls in the future right?
I hope so..

Yeah sunshine!

And my big head.
Swelling subsided so are my double eyelids haha.
And numbness got lesser. Guess what?
I'm actually feeling the pain from my lower jaw operation site already.
Just like the feeling of having dry socket after wisdom tooth extraction.
FML.
Doctor said its good because it means I'm recovering.
But pain lah. And he doesn't want me to rely on painkillers =(

And I got nagged by Dr Peck again.
He measured my mouth opening only just right for an index finger to go in.
"Next session I need to see at least 1cm"
GOSH so ambitious!

And he only extended my hospitalization leave for a week more.
So meaning I will be back to the house of Mickey Mouse and Friends next Monday.

Day 23: HOI HOI!

I think this is my first time I'm using my house DVD player.
But I gave up after awhile because TV too small.
I swear I'm gonna buy a new big one when I get my bonus.
So I went back to my pathetic laptop and digged out an external DVD player because my laptop's disc drive seems to have a little issue.

Colleague lent me Glee. SO NICE!
So inspiring. Good music, good voices and good actors.
Highschool life in their country is so complicated.
Where's season 2?!

My munchies. I really eats like a baby.

Then later in the night, rainjie gave me a big surprise. Really BIG.

I thought its a Christmas tree!
I know there's gonna be a surprise for me because she posted it all over facebook -.-;

So touched.
Because she said she will visit me (because she lives 2 bus stops away) with her homemade pumpkin soup when I discharge from hospital.
Until now 3 weeks already she still haven come over yet and she even ditched me once over movies showing on channel 5.

All because she wanted to wait for the parcel to reach sg from korea!

I'm a happy girl with big drumstick yo!

And she made her pumpkin soup for me too!
Very nice seriously.
Even my mum also praised her. Haha.

I caught cold.
Its not cool sneezing with my swollen face.
Fucking pain.
Yes I can smile widely but still having restriction yawning and sneezing.
Not forgetting the pins-and-needles pain and I can't help to reflex when I'm feeling itchy, I'll raise my hand to scratch my numb nose.
The feeling is pretty funny yet frustrating.

Day 19: Spamming moisturizer.

My face is so dry and itchy! So are my lips.
They had been overly stretched during the operation so now I have to do something to protect and heal.
And its really frustrating to scratch a numb face.

But things are getting good, I can feel alittle on my inner cheeks.
How would I know?
Because I can actually feel that my braces wires are eating into them.

Hence I went to get some wax from Doctor Poon.

Then had dinner with my silly happy people over at hkcafe.
Yes unagi porridge again haha.
Went for a walk over helix bridge and my mouth is so tired after all the crazy laughing.

Theresa bought a big box of chocolate cake from Japan for me!
So touched.

Day 18: I want to sleep properly.

Its either I was too excited with my new bite or too afraid to dislocate them in my dreams, I just couldn't get to sleep last night.
I feel so insecure without my bite plate.
Very scared that they will go out of place again.

I tried practising talking today.
Can't really pronounce alot of words properly yet since I only can open one finger's width.
But good thing, I ate fishball kwaytiao for dinner today. Cut them into smaller pieces of course.
Still trying to adapt eating with front bite, so amazing.
And nope, I can't really chew with back molars yet, they are too near the operation site.

Day 17: I just can't stop smiling.

Today is one of the most memorable day in my life.
The day I finally bite like a normal person.

I lay back on the dentist chair and let Doctor Peck cut the wire of the bite plate inside my mouth.

"Close your eyes dear"
"Ok open your mouth"
"Ok now bite your teeth"

My heart raced when I was closing the gap and the moment I felt my upper teeth touched the lower one, I gasped.
"SO WEIRD!" I grabbed the mini mirror and looked at my almost perfect smile.
Both Doctor Peck and his assistant laughed.

Of course it's weird! For the past 22 years I have never experienced this before.
All credit goes to my amazing Orthodontist, Doctor Raymond Peck.

He got the friendly grandpa look right? Heh.
He has been in this line for very very very very long time. I read forum that some people had this surgery 10years ago and was done with Doctor Peck.
So can you imagine how many lives were changed by him?
I'm so lucky to be one of them.

And he's generous. Not only on mouthwash.
He wants to see me for another review on 1st Nov, but my hospitalization leave ends on 31st Oct which means I need to go back work on monday.
So I asked "Can you extend my HL?"
"Sure my dear" He said with a big smile.
YEAH! But he will only let me know how long the extension will be when he sees me next time.
So for now, no work on monday!

And too bad, Doctor Seah and Doctor Lim were not around so I couldn't grab them for a shot.

Then I went down to my braces dentist, Doctor Poon for another review.
Remember the last time I went down was the 4th day after my op and I was swollen like a pig.
This time I walked in without any mask and greeted two of the nurses.
They used to be really friendly to me but not this time.

"Hi I was referred to see Dr Poon today by Dr Peck from NDC"
"Can I have you appointment card please?"
*Hands over the card*
"OMG WENNA?!"
"Ya =D"
"YOU ARE WENNA?!"

LOL They didn't recognised me thats why!
Then they all got so excited and asked other staffs to come out and see my new look.
So cute!

Mum was laughing in the waiting area when all those happened.

Doctor Poon was very happy about my new teeth alignment.
She said braces to be off 6 months later.
Oh boy oh boy, new event to count down for - Debrace day!

And mum bought me ice cream cake!! *love her so muchie~*
No more berries so we chosed blackforest.

Ahwei messaged me if I had scrambled eggs today.
HAHA.

Nope. But I had unagi porridge for dinner.
Unblended! Yes people, unblended porridge finally!
But its tiring to eat properly..

Seriously, it really took me alot for things like that.
I just can't stop smiling today.
And I guess, for the rest of my life too.

I have no regrets for doing the surgery.
It's really worth it.
Not only for the smile.
But for a whole new life.
A new normal life =)

Day 16: Life as we know it.

Was bored at home.
And evil emo5 spammed my fb wall with their food photos.
So Shan and I decided to surprise them!

The ladies and my awkward smile.

Her mission was to get them to movie after lunch so I could join them haha.

Stupid fai and his funny stuffs made me laughed alot today.

Theresa brought Fuji Apple Cake from her recent Japan trip and shared with the guys.

Can't eat =( but it really smells good.

I'm glad that I went out to meet this bunch of friends.
Had a great laugh over at starbucks then watched "Life as we know it" at the cathay, nice movie.
Didn't join dinner as I still couldn't eat properly outside.
But my day was good enough =)

Removing bite plate tomorrow!
I'm dreaming of scrambled eggs already.

Day 15: I crave for ice cream when it rains

Its a weird habit of mine.

Oh. I nearly order ice cream cake last night since the girls are coming, but when I went into the website I got shocked.
Cake price plus delivery charges pls gst all add up till almost $75-80. So expensive..
I gave up of course..

Made parfait today for me and bro.
Obviously which one is mine right.
Crushed fruits parfait haha.
I don't dare to blend kiwi anymore. The last time I blended it and the seeds made my milkshake so bitter!

Rainjie and fangjie wanted to accompany me for a short walk at ecp but it was cancel due to the stupid weather.
I want fresh air =(
And my face is getting so itchy.
It's frustrating that scratching won't help to get the sensation away.
But I can feel my senses can coming at the upper lips area.

Why?
Because I accidentally knocked the upper gum with my baby brush and I felt the pain!!!
My heart skipped a beat because it's so near the operation site.
Thank goodness no bleeding hahaha.
And hey! I can feel pain.

Actually I am very sad today........
Couldnt attend the kpop night, so I sold my ticket away..
Friends don't allow me to go secretly too, worried crazy fans will bump into me..
T_T My soshi, fti and bigbang.... Huhuhu.

Tomorrow one of my favourite clique is celebrating birthday at Strictly Pancake.
Feel so guilty that I couldn't join them yet.
Its uncomfortable to attend big gathering with bite plate in my mouth.
Hope they will understand..

One good thing about this surgery is that, I have a lot of good friends wanting to feed me with good food after I recover.
I feel so blissful.

Day 14: "Itsh Sho Phmofffy!"

My lovelies came to visit me today!

Ahwei and Ling just went home.
They came over to...

The worst part is Cedric came back from Genting with..

He bought for me then the girls were like "?!?! Are we blending it?!"
Then he exclaimed he totally forgot I can't eat -.-;;;;;;;

Why you so ke ai? T_T

My bff also another ke ai one.

She bought these because she feels like drinking and she couldn't find the big bottle to share.
Hence she carried these 6 packets to my house and drank 3 of them.
This is the first time guest came over with drinks and served themselves in my house haha.

We had a fun time chatting and laughing.
Yes I can talk. But have funny pronunciations due to the bite plate in my mouth.
Ahwei showed me her guinea pig puupuu's photo and I was like "Itsh sho phmofffffy!" *translate: its so fluffy!*
Then ahwei and ling said "blinding" instead of "blending" -.-;;;
Silly silly.

Day 13: Custard Caramel Pudding!

Oh the haze is hurting my eyes =(
I need fresh air!

Doctor Peck said he will remove my splint next Monday!
WHEE!
That means I can officially starts chewing soft food like fish, chopped noodles, scrambled eggs, cakes and mashed potato!
I got so excited that I bought pudding to celebrate!

Kekeke.

I am considered very lucky.
Doctor Peck only tied my jaws up for a night.
I asked "Why mine only got tied up for one night?"
He replied "Alright we can always tie them back, come ^^"
Me "?!?! @!##%#$^@#$@"
Others had theirs tied up for weeks so they have to go for strictly liquid diet for that period.
Which is not really good because they tends to lose too much weight and gain little energy for healing.
So I am really drinking well that so far I only lost 3kg on the average.
See how determined I am to get well soon.
I am a brave fighter yo!

You know where's my motivation from?
All the good food at Christmas gatherings.......... Muahahaha.
It takes 3 months for my bones to heal fully.
By then should be able to chew normally.
Looking forward~

Day 12: Chop My Porridge.

My face has been experiencing the pins-and-needles pain.
It's getting itchy at times too but so sad, the numbness haven go away so i can't feel anything when I scratch.
I'm still on Neurobion tablets which is to promote nerve cell growth.
Hope my nerve system can come back soon, some people can take up to years to get their senses back.

Tomorrow's review at 9am. So early!
I hope Dr Peck can give me the green light to start with soft food.
If can, I am so going to buy ice cream cake!!!

The good thing about my blender is there are different types of blending style.
My recent menu is very standard, I would chop and then whip soups, porridge, milkshakes and smoothies.
But just now for dinner I decided to only chop my century egg porridge.
The texture is different of course.
Whipped porridge is so... liquid.. while chopped one is thicker.
And I manage to slurp the content into my mouth!
Haha super unglam. And its tiring for the muscles too.

Hope that considered as an exercise because Doctor said before...
"If you don't dare to open your mouth, they will forget how to open next time"

Day 11: Change or No Change?

我的天空今天有点灰...

It rained heavily today, I got so lazy and nua on bed in such a nice weather.
Cherishing such days...

Its still not going away. =(
Big patch of blueblack caused by IV.
Hurts abit when I tried to position on my guitar neck.

I'm drinking well with straw already.
Still messy with spoon.
And I am so craving for ice cream cake!!!!
Don't know can eat cake already not...

Cedric went genting.
So I braved up and went to market today.
Honestly I was terrified. Tried very hard to avoid people running into me.
Saw some neighbours, apparently they couldn't notice the change until I open my mouth to greet them then they heard my weird speech.
But good lah don't need to keep explaining to each and everyone.

And finally my bff sent my photos!
Nope, not the recent ones.
But these were the very last I took in hospital.

Told ya I was the most gadget-ed patient in the ward. LOL

So happy! Why?

My bff came down to comfort me before the big day.

Day 10: Stitches Removed

Does the inventor ever taste it before putting them onto the shelves?!
Not yummyyyyyyy.

Went to remove my stitches today.
My 3 surgeons walked in with smiley face.
Friendly Dr Peck keeps saying "Good good"
Handsome Dr Seah keeps comforting me by patting my head.
Cutie Dr William helps with the bloody process.

"Ok today we are going to remove your stitches, now I'm going to lower down the chair"
"Ing~~~~" Screaming with mouth shut.
"Why why?! You already been through the worst haha!"

SO TRUE.
So I closed my eyes real hard and leave the rest to Dr William.
"Say ah~ say ah~"
Gosh like how?!
Haha but I still managed to survive.
Thanks to the numbness on upper cheeks, I couldn't really feel the pain.

Sam wanted to accompany me, so sweet.
In the end we still manage to see each other at singapore post after our appointments.
And she just couldn't stop take her eyes off my face! Silly bunny.
Kekeke.

So are you ready for my new look?

JANGJANG.
The thing I'm pointing to is what they called "splint" or "wafer"
Its made of acrylic with my teethbite which they took before surgery.
So it acts like a guide for my new jaws to bite properly, since they were out of place for over 20years.
So this wafer thingy gave me a hard time to talk properly.
But amazingly people do understand me heh.
And yes, I still got my braces on.
Mayb for another half to one year..

Ok today is my first time stepping out without a mask.
But I'm still not ready for gatherings.
=(

Day 9: See My Baby Toothbrush.

I brushed my back molars today!
Awesome. Its getting better each day.
I managed to get my cutie toothbrush into the back of my mouth.

So happy.

Removing stitches tomorrow.
I can imagine me tearing on the dentist chair already.......

Day 8: Afternoon Naps Are Evil.

I sneezed for the first time after my surgery.
Fucking pain LOL.
But it amused me when I realised its the first time I sneezed after the op.

nomnomnom.

Major numbness couldn't let me enjoy the shiokness of scratching.
I know my nose is itchy but when I scratch it it just feels nothing yet.
Lips keep cracking despite the fact that I keep spamming water already.
And I'm still adjusting to my new look.

People asked me "So what have you been doing recently?"
Well I actually planned to tidy room and practise guitar.
But now all I did was sleeping, watching drama and pyschoing-myself-that-im-not-hungry. HAHA.
Afternoon naps are evil.
What to do when my painkiller makes me drowsy.
And I'm still couldn't find the best position to sleep properly at night hence I got tired in the day easily.
I'm so afraid that I might just dislocate my jaws during my sleep haha.

Finishing my medication soon.
Hope they will supply me more painkiller on monday's review.

Day 7: Why The Surgery?

Happy 1st week!

Able to open slightly bigger and stick out abit of tongue today.
So I tried to eat with spoon...
But I did it like a baby.
Nom nom nom.

Swelling went down abit, able to see my chin.
Bruising continue to show up.
Pain come and go randomly.
Yawning and laughing still a no-no.

Everyone's has been asking my situation through msn whenever I go online.
Its really nice to receive so many concern =)
"Got prettier?"
"Must be very pretty now right"
"Haha chio bu!"
Almost none really mention anything about my new bite.
I look horrible now with all the swelling and wider nose.
To be honest, those harmless comments made it like I went for a cosmetic enhancement.
Seriously if I got the money and courage, I would rather choose a nose job than this.

Why the surgery?

I got an inherited underbite from my mother.

Luckily for my brother. He only got a longer chin.

From young, dentists did encouraged me to go for braces and surgery.
But I never listened because financially I knew our family could not afford it.
Little did I know that living with an underbite actually lead me to a bad medical condition - Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD).
It got so bad 2 years ago that it got me thinking whether its time to do something about it.
So I decided to go correct it with my own earnings when I was 21yrs old.
The timing was perfect, when my bones stopped growing.

Family were pretty cool with it "since its your own money" they said.
Friends were more concerned when I announced the decision.
"Why go through the pain?"
"You are pretty already lah!"
Ok I have to admit that I got depressed by my side profile before, but there were more reasons for this major decision.

Closer friends would know these reasons;
I am desperate to bite properly. Really desperate.
I experienced discomfort while eating. I want to use all my teeth to chew my food, not just the back molars.
I tends to spit when I talk. That's really bad. Especially infront my loves.
I am not a fan of lisp. I want to pronounce "s" nicely.
And a lifetime of discomfort living with a lowerbite. How about that?

I don't blame people when they assumed all procedure are for looks only.
I would tell myself "Its ok.. they just don't know.."
At least I am not alone.
Thanks to internet, I found people who been through/going through the same thing. All over the world!
Forums, blogs and videos.
Its amazingly sweet to find comfort from strangers like this.
And of course, I have friends who love me for who I am.

I know I will have emotional up downs on this whole cosmetic deal (advices from experienced strangers)
Just want to let those who are going through know or if you have people around you facing the same problem; please support and be happy for them.

Day 6: I Worked My Lips Muscle Today.

I can smile! =)

Still only able to open a finger width.
Almost can drink through a straw but its tiring.
Bruising started to show on jawline and neck area.
However pain level still bearable, just numbness tight pain.
And still having hard time sleeping properly.

I've never used blender so many times in my life!
I blend my breakfast, lunch and dinner like never before.
And today I tried making smoothie! HAHA.
I hope it counts as healthy since I'm using ensure milk.
Nope, not really expecting a weight drop from this whole thing, haven weight myself yet. LOL

Dad so nice bought collagenplus.
I still got soyamilk and fruit juices in fridge.
Jin came over with my fav ben&jerry cherry garcia! Sweet surprise.
And she accompanied me out for a walk to the mart to get icecream, yogurt and banana.
Thank you so much girl.

Tada~ My first homemade smoothie.

I gave up drinking through straw halfway because its tiring.
Syringe's my life now.....

Day 5: Blended Porridge!

Just had blended A1 century egg and minced meat porridge for dinner.
Finally I'm eating! *throws confetti's*

Pain score: 5/10
Sudden swelling occurs randomly throughout the day and night.
Major numbness on upper lips and nose.
Luckily I can still feel abit on my lower lips so I won't be drooling around without knowing.

And I am so proud of myself.
Went to see Doctor Peck on my own today.
Then after that went to see Doctor Poon in town for review too.
So I cabbed over to NDC, took train to orchard and cabbed home.
Seriously I was super duper scared when I was on the way to orchard.
Alot of people, danger's everywhere.
I swear I will kill anyone who accidentally bump into me.
Thank goodness there wasn't any.
And again, couldn't avoid any stares.

So I reached at Dr Poon's place, everyone were excited to see me.
I was so touched because they don't treat me like just another patient.
They really care and keep telling me I am pretty I am doing well, even though I know how horrible I looked right now.

Big diff eh?
My bones are still very fragile.
Can open a finger width so far.
Managed to brush the external row of teeth with baby toothbrush.
Can't wait to use spoon and eat mashed potato!

Removing stitches on Monday.

Day 4: 3 More Days To A Week

These two days were like living in hell.
Sleepless nights.

Day 4, no more increasing in swelling but its still very tight.

Silly me, should have use ice pack asap but I just discovered it today -.-;

And I am so sick of milk already.

So I asked dad to blend soup for me in middle of the night.
5ml by 5 ml, mirror to guide since i'm still feeling numb.

Cedric helped me bought some juices, soymilk and soup stocks.

No, I won't be taking any photos of myself yet.
Its too way too cartoon.
Let's not imagine ok?

Going NDC for review tml, lets pray everything is good.

Looking forward for the next day, for a better me. =)
Still receiving care and concerns from friends.
Support is all I need now.
HWAITING!

Day 3: It was HELL.

Super pain.
Super swollen.
Super depressed.

Painkiller not helping.
Swelling reached its peak. Its so so tight that I couldn't really open my mouth.
I feel like my face is exploding.
Can't help but to tear on bed.
Parents freaked out when they found me sleeping in sitting up position.
Lying down is a major pain for this heavy head.

Life behind mask.
Couldn't avoid any stares.
Went back for a review at NDC with Dr Peck.
Took two xrays that cost me over hundred bucks.
He said my jaws are recovering well.
Don't have to worry about the pain as its normal for the first week.

Going back for another review on Wednesday.
Gosh can time just pass faster?

Day 2: Home Sweet Home

This morning was very swollen.
My Doctors came and gave me last review before discharging me, they said its normal.
Third day will be even worst.
I hope i can bear with it for the first week.
Given 3 weeks of HL, hope I can extend leh cos I doubt the swelling will go off so fast.

Cedric came to fetch me, cabbed home with lots of pills.
I didn't know that hospital will give me 2 weeks supply of ensure.
Damn regretted with the two big tins I bought before the op.

I am doing well now.
Bathed.
Cleansed wounds.
Drank milk.
Took painkiller.
Surfing net.

Will rest awhile later.

Don't worry k?
Doc said I am doing really well. Just that these two days will be experiencing the worst swelling pain ever.
Lets pray I will hang on and bear with it for this week then life would not be difficult for me anymore.

Day 1: I Survived!

Although I don't know how I looked like, but I know my two sets of teeth were tied with rubber bands to stable the jaws over night.
Dr William came in the morning ard 6am and removed the rubber bands and the balls lanterns thats hanging around my face for the draining excessive blood.
He tried to be gentle already but I can't help but to moan in pain.
That nurse came and press morphine for me again haha.
I was so thirsty so I kept drinking water. Dr William asked me to try using cup.
Then again I was like "OMG seriously."
But hey! I did it!

Then was pushed to dental clinic basement 1 ard 8am for cleansing of mouth and nose.
They removed my oxygen nose tube already but I got serious blockage of bloody mucus and phlegms.
This was so embarrassed because I was still with my urine catheter as the pain team haven review me to see if they can take off morphine from me yet.
So ya.. I have to be wheeled out of the ward with that thing hanging from my thing.....................

This is the part where I finally saw myself from the mini mirror on the dentist chair.
I totally looked plastic. My jaws and neck so swollen!
Like the 200 pounds beauty Hanna!
My nose got stretched too! T_T
Miss piggy spotted.
But Dr said its because of the swelling, once its gone my nose will b back to normal.. Pray hard ar..

Took xray and one of anesthetist Ronald Tan came and said I am ready to be on my own.
I wished he was here before I went down can.
Finally took off the catheter which was like omg when they tried to drained you down there.
Then I kept asking nurse if I could go and bath because I am so smelly with blood and stuffs.
They allowed me to bath after taking my antibiotics and a can of ensure through a straw.

I am so proud of myself that I made it! As in the showering part.
Then I was changed to a normal B2 ward.
After that I kept drinking water because my lips are so dry.
My three doctors kept reviewing me.
And they totally cheered me up by praising me "Pretty pretty very pretty" hahaha.

Dad and Aunt dropped by to see me.
Very surprised, but it was nice.
Then like I said, I can feel the pain because my nerves are coming back. So I felt mucus dripping out too.
So I went to toilet to clean.
When I stepped out, I saw Shan and Xeno.
"WAH LAU WHY ARE U HERE!??" I wanted to shout but cannot.
Ling got whatapped me that bro actually facebooked my ward number to Samantha.
Betrayal!
Its really nice of them to come over but I don't want to let my friends see me in this state =(
I know their intentions were good though..
And I saw sunflower on my bed. Aww.

They got me magazines too.
Tried to talk to them with my limited mouth opening.
Luckily they could understand me.

Then until later afternoon I started to feel the swelling pain. Pain score around 7.
So I kept asking for painkiller.
Nurse was like "You still got visitors coming? Because after taking painkiller you will feel sleepy"
Ahwei was already on her way so I postponed my intake and endure.
And she totally got all the attention in the hospital can.
Wear so hot HAHA.

So after she left, I quickly asked for painkiller.
It was about 8plus9 pm when I got knocked out.
Pain score of 8 throughout the night. I asked for painkiller twice.

I tried to sleep in a upwards position. It did relieved alittle pain.
Then again, I woke up every now and then.
Witnessed nurses fighting with patients throughout the night.

Jaw Surgery: D-Day!

Here we go!
A nurse woke me up at around 8am.
I happily took my shower and thought still got time to surf net awhile after that, end up the nurse interrupted my bath and said theatre's calling for me already.

I quickly changed into the operation robe and saw Cedric standing outside waiting for me.
So nice to see him here for me early in the morning.
He said don't want me to go in alone *touched*
So I lied onto the automated bed which they have to push me to the operation theatre.
Bro tried to cheer me up by overreacting as if I am going into labour.

So they stopped him from coming with us until certain area, I'm all by myself already.
Cedric said jiayou and bid goodbye.
I then met a number of nurses trying to make sure they got the right patient by surveying me.
Then I met my anaesthetist, whom inserted the thick intravenous cannula into my left arm.
And there came my 3 handsome doctors-in-ugly-green-op-robes.
They smiled and comforted me, asking me not to worry, everything will be fine when I open my eyes later.
Then oxygen mask was given to me, and slowly I went into the deep sleep..

The surgery took about 4.5 to 5 hours, I woke up around 1pm plus finding myself in the room where other patients just got their surgery done too.
Very disturbing. Nurses were talking very loudly in that room!
Having breathing difficulties so they gave me oxygen through oxygen mask.
I was on morphine already but the painkiller made me so nausea that I can't help but to vomit out all the crap in me.
It was so bad that they have to perform suction to make sure I won't be choked.
They gave me blood transfusion cos I vomitted my blood out too.

Then I was pushed to a High-Dependency Care ward, in half-conscious state.
Family came at around evening time, I was still vomitting but able to move my jaws already.
Amazing right.
When Dr William asked me to open my mouth I was like "omg are you crazy?!"
And I was very thirsty hence they fed me water through a syringe. Had to swallow bloody saliva.
I asked bro how do I look, he said "you won't want to know, go slp" LOL
So I totally have no idea how was I after op that day.

Morphine did help to reduce the pain because Dr Seah said I got protective nerves which was not damaged hence I felt mild numbness but alot of pain.
But I was so afraid that I might throw up again if I apply that, so I tried not to.
Kept waking up hourly, just couldn't sleep well. Nurses were very noisy with those clipping files.
Got weird neighbour listening to 95.8fm without earphones throughout the night......................

Since its a HDC ward, there are alot of machines to make sure patients are in stable conditions, hence very noisy with all the Beep beep beep.
And had to take antibiotics, anti-nausea, blood pressure and temp almost hourly too.
One of the nurses found me woking up every now and then, got discovered that I never press for painkiller.
She was like "Pain right? Pain must apply painkiller.. see your heartbeat rate rises already"

I was able to read my handphone.
Very thankful for all smses from my friends.
But was too weak to reply one by one.
Hope I didn't make them worry too much.
=)

But loves from friends and music patted me like a child.
Everything's gonna be alright...

2nd Blood Donation

On children's day -.-;

You know what? My body reaction was so lag that I felt the giddiness a day after the very first donation.
And I was at work....

Nurse Poh consulted doctor after tested out that I am having low blood pressure and blood count dropped.
Doc said its normal but just in case, they are going to take lesser volume for the 2nd bag and 2rd bag from the blood bank if needed.
So plan changed, from 3 units to because everything was kinda rush. I don't have enough time to wait for the blood to recover for another week.
And a bag of human blood can only be stored up till 35 days, if in any case the blood is not needed, hospital will have to charge me $115 per bag for the equipments and storage used.
So let's just pray 2 bags are enough because I think the blood from bank are more precious than mine.

This time round was not as nervous as the first time already.
But I did felt a little weird right after the session hence they asked me to rest more before going off.

I call them angels without wings.
Really nice people. So far my experience in SGH are pleasant.
From administration to Anaesthetist, everyone is nice and friendly.
I like =)

So I hope my upcoming stay would be a pleasant one too.

Then went bugis passed camera to teckwei and met handsome for lunch.

So nice finally looked for me eh.

After gaining energy from beef noodles, met ling and jer for rock and roll time!

I love jer's workplace, full of fun people and beautiful music.

There were blueblacks at my needle sites cause I carried too much things(guitar, camera, polaroid) that day.
And then again, I felt giddy the next day morning.
Luckily I wasn't working this time.

Pre-Admission Test

Been taking the iron tablets given by NDC on wed. Abit too late but still have to do something about it.

Admin nurse was surprised that I went alone.
Its ok man, I can handle it.

So I took xray, blood test and simple physical tests with my Anaesthetist.
So she went through with me what will happen before, during and after the operation.
And asked me to stop taking enzymes for my gastric because it might coillde with the medical on the body during the procedure. And also need to stop caffine intake as it will block the iron absorption.
However I could continue with my Vit C supplement.
The only thing that's bothering me is my period.
Its late and I'm worried that it would come around that period.
Sucks to imagine it.
And no late nights, no illness.
If i fall sick everything will be postponed.

So my bloodcount was 13, very good.
Had a hard time trying to locate the autologous room, it turned out to be just a little room with 2 nurses inside.

Nurse Poh is a very nice lady who keep ensuring if I'm ok throughout the session.
This is my first time donating blood (because everytime when I wanted to go with rain, its either I was coughing or sneezing)
So I lay on the bed looking at magazine, trying hard to pretend that I wasn't bother by the thick needle that is going through my vein.
Thanks goodness it doesn't hurt a bit, and Poh kept me busy with friendly conversation so I kinda got distracted and 10 minutes passed kinda fast.
y blood was in beautiful red wine red. Poh was like "This is your blood, you wanna hold it?" then placed the bag onto my palm.
So warm.. yet creepy haha.

After 1 unit, I was like "Ok so now going for 2nd bag?"
Both poh and wu were shock! LOL
"We are not going to drain you dear"
So i misunderstood. I thought we are going to take 3 units today and because of that I totally couldn't sleep well the night before.

"No wonder you were so nervous.. Its over for now"
HAHAHA silly me.

And I felt perfectly fine after that.
Still got the energy to meet my bff for lunch.

But damn it, she keeps hitting my needle sites! -.-;;;;
So violent.. hurhurhur.

But since she intro yummy food to me, I shall forgive her.

I like the cheesetart!!!

I was so glad that she was able to accompany me to NDC today.

Playing my itouch while waiting for our turn.

I have never show this before.
I know its disgusting (not bloody, just kinda freaky)

My final x-ray:

So the animation below shows this is what they are going perform on me.

Its called the Lefort 1 BSSO under oral & maxillofacial surgery.

However for my case, instead of pushing the upper jaw out, Dr Peck will push it forward 2mm and 9mm backwards for the lower jaw, which i believe some up angle will be involved too.
The operation will takes 4 to 6 hours, Dr estimated 4.5 for mine hence I was advised to donate 3 units to myself for the tranfusion.
Metal implants and screws will be placed as you saw in the video above. Unless they cause pain or infection, else I don't think i will go through another round to take them out.

Here's the financial concerns:
I chose Class B2 ward(no aircon, 6 beds) + surgical procedure + implants = $4418
Luckily mediasave claimable $2633 (again, I'm glad that I started work at young age)
Hence I just have to pay $1785

"Why so cheap?!"

Mum was like "Don't forget you already spent more than like 8k so far for this..."
So ya, Dr Poon was right with the estimation she gave me 3years ago "Around 10k for braces and surgery"
Anyway I was charged another $567.54 for today's review that involved face bow recording, modeling, 3 skull xray and sterile supplies.. government~

Had been a busy morning take xrays, photos, measurements and consultation.
But at least I'm not facing it alone this time =)
Went to visit late grandparents for mooncake day prayings.

Went healthscreening at Raffles Hospital this morning.
Weight dropped! But so much percentage of fats inside me =(
Nurse Seina was nice and friendly when taking 3 tubes of my blood.
And I got the first dose of Gardasil shot, which is the cervical cancer vaccine.
Long time never get injection le, whole arm so numb now. Pain T_T

Haven been getting any updates on my dental eh?
Thats because all the time we were just waiting for the gaps to close.
And finally they did. A little overdue from what we expected.
Next month I will be having a 2 hours full of dental session for the surgery preparation.
They will be taking more moldings, more xrays, more impressions.
And a 60minutes of teeth cleaning omg.
Then after a week, I will go back to NDC to meet the very gentle surgeon, Dr Raymond Peck for pre-surgical briefing.

The boring part is, I have to face all these all by myself again.
Anyway, its still better to go alone.

Its way too much to be shared...

And till date, I was too tired to explain things so there were times I'd just go along with people who judged me with the "did-braces-because-you-want-to-be-pretty" thing.
Whatever.

Because we were all working on the 30th of july, we decided to go for a belated birthday this year.
On our monday off day...

Then went to her favourite Amaru's Petal Works for crazy heels fitting time.
She happily carried two pairs home for her birthday presents.

To be honest, I'm afraid to see my folks grow old so fast.
The truth is, I'm still a big old kid.
I swear I can't even take care of myself now.
The only thing I can do now is to support my family financially and they are very happy about it. (Ya my family super practical)
Im glad I can help in a way, and that point kinda lessen the emotional updowns too.
But I still don't want you to grow old.
I'm a selfish girl..
